"Train up your child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

 -- Proverbs 22:6

Dear Parents:

As parents of five boys and one girl, we are always seeking out ways to build a strong faith-filled foundation in our children that will help carry them through life. When we find something that helps us along the way, we want to spread the word to everyone! This is why we are writing to tell you about Cub Scout Pack 7153, one of only three Catholic packs of the 36 in our scouting district. Saint Brigid parish sponsors the pack, and we welcome boys from any school in grades K-5.

Our five sons range in age from 8 to 22, and this is our seventeenth year with the pack. All of our sons have been active in Scouting, with our two oldest reaching Eagle rank, and the next two on track.

We love everything that Cub Scouts stands for: building lifelong values and character through educational activities and service to others, combined with fun and infused with our Catholic faith.

We have an active Pack where our boys have enjoyed safe, wholesome activities such as camping, hiking, biking, fishing, cooking, building and racing pinewood derby cars, local field trips, and service projects. We’ve taken fun trips to Space Camp in Alabama, Cumberland Caverns in Tennessee, the Georgia Aquarium, McWane science museum in Alabama, and the USS Yorktown in South Carolina. Each Fall, we camp out at the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Camp Woodruff in the North Georgia Mountains, and in the Spring at BSA Camp Bert Adams in Covington. And in the summer, the local district conducts a fantastic week-long day camp for all Cub Scouts in the area.

With each experience and achievement, we’ve seen each of our sons learn new skills, develop character, and grow in confidence. We love to see our boys light up with joy and stand tall with pride when they receive a rank advancement badge after working hard to complete all the requirements.

The parents of our Pack have grown over the years into a close knit family and it’s been fun watching our kids grow and develop together. Many of our parents are Scout Leaders in our pack. Since our first son joined the pack, we’ve been a part of the leadership. We are joined by strong group of men and women who are enthusiastic about what Scouting has to offer our boys.

Over the years, we have seen first-hand in our own children and their fellow Scouts how Scouting has helped build their character, develop a love of serving others, deepen their faith, and learn respect for our country and all it stands for. We whole-heartedly recommend the Scouts program at Saint Brigid to all of you!
